French Oral

Format

You will be give 2 pictures and pick one to discuss. Then you will receive a notecard where you write up to 5 bullet points that are 5 or less words each! You will have 10 minutes to prepare. We have a helpful tip for you-- during that time write a paragraph of everything you want to say and then make your bullet points out of your paragraph. You will then speak for 5 minutes about the picture, have 5 minutes of questioning, and 5 minutes of general discussion.

Introduction

State the theme of the photo, some ways to do this are:

The first minute

The first minute should be dedicated to stating exactly what it is in the photo.

  • Start by describing people in the photo: Their expressions, clothes, age, etc.
  • Then describe any actions: What are they doing
  • Location: Discuss the background and other setting factors
  • Try and connect the picture to a French Culture this includes but it not limited to: France, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Belgium, etc.

Connection to the Photo

Connect the photo to the theme and discuss why the theme is important

  • The themes are: Identités, Expériences, Ingénsiosité humaine, Organisation Sociale, Partage de la planete!
  • State why the theme is important to you personally and in general 

Your opinions

State any of your own opinions about the photo next. This is where you can easily use idiomatic expressions:

  • Je pense que...
  • Je crois que...
  • Il me semble que....

  • Imparfait
